People beginning a kitchen remodel have many concerns about how they will eat and use the rest of their home. Use these tips to stay well fed and maintain your sanity while remodeling a kitchen.
Schedule a convenient time
Of course a remodel while you are on vacation might be ideal, but even if this is not possible, try to pick the most convenient time for your remodel.
Dust and debris is inevitable during a kitchen remodel. Seal off all doorways leading to the remodeling area with heavy duty plastic and tape.
Patience is a key trait to have during any remodel. Keep in mind that unexpected problems will most likely cause the remodel to last a few days longer. If you change the plans, the remodel will take even longer.
Plan for restaurant visits
Include the extra cost of takeout and restaurant meals in your budget to make the remodel as easy as possible. Getting food made elsewhere is typically the easiest option.
Monitor kids and pets
Construction areas can be very dangerous, so it is important to keep your children and pets away from the kitchen. They may be very curious about all the construction, so try to distract them with favorite toys and games.
Create alternative cooking areas
Make sure you have a cabinet outside the kitchen where you can easily store and access unrefrigerated food. It is helpful to have a grill, electric griddle, or hot plate you can use if you want to cook during the remodel.
With this advice, you can make sure that your kitchen remodel goes as smoothly as possible. It might be a bit of a hassle, but the end result is definitely worth the inconvenience!
